Confessions of a Choco-holic: I am on a sugar rush right now. Chocolates for lunch, that’s wicked baby. Oh how i yearn, and crave, and long for a box of chocolates from Royce.
Different people like different types of chocolates. Some enjoy the oh-so-cloyingly-sweeet whites, some love their smooth milk chocs, some prefer the dark which exudes more character, while others simply love anything and everything chocolate! As for me, i have a sweet-tooth for dark chocolates, and basically anything that contains praline, hazelnut and liquer.
Talking about the C word brings me to the topic of my recent visit to Canale Patissierie.Together with 2 other friends, we shared a total of 3 cakes and 1 ice-cream dessert from the dessert menu.

Matcha
A soft mousse like cake sitting on a biscuit crust. Being a huge fan of matcha and STARBUCKS’ GREEN TEA FRAPP, i would have preferred this rendition from Canale to contain a stronger dose of matcha. It was good but it could have been much better.

Lemon Meringue
Tangy lemon curd sandiwched between a tart and soft fluffy meringue. I like this. The sourness from the lemon curd was indeed refreshing to the palate. The soft fluffy meringue was sweet and tasted like melted marshmellows. The sweetness from the meringue sure helped to balance the sourness from the lemon curd. I seriously cant find any fault with this dessert.

Le Royale
Saving the best for the last. Le Royale is Canale’s version of hazelnut praline cakes. The luscious bittersweet dark chocolate coupled with the crunchy bits of praline is oh-so-orgasmic. Its little wonder how people associate chocolate with sex.

Nougatine
Praline ice-cream, with hazelnut nougatine drizzled with salted caramel. Canale, as we all know, is known for its salted caramel creations. This dessert we had, was no exception. The salted caramel kinda tasted like the sweet popcorn sold in amusement parks. A reminiscence of the early childhood days i say.
Total bill amounted to $33 (inc. GST) for 3 pax. I will certainly be back for more cakes, and i would so love to try their crepes and sandwiches on my next visit.
Its a must!
