We always associate the legendary Hillstreet Char Kway Teow with Bedok South’s Food Center but did you know that the food center also houses another hidden gem?
Nestled among the indian muslim stalls is one particular stall that sells your typical muslim fare. Mee Soto, Mee Rebus, Mee Siam and Nasi Lemak, just to name a few. But what differentiates them from all the other muslim stalls – be it at the Food Center or elsewhere, is their extremely low-pricing and authencity. At less than $2 a plate/bowl, Warong Jawa, sure is a great steal.
Having had their Mee Rebus on my previous visit, i thought i’d give their Mee Soto a shot today. The family also ordered a plate of Nasi Lemak to share. Oh, did i mention that grandma is a fan of their Mee Rebus?

Indeed, the dishes were a reminescence of my primary school childhood days. Remember those times you had a piping hot bowl of Mee Soto during recess? Yes, that’s exactly how the food at Warong Jawa taste like. Simple and traditional at its very best.
So if you’re craving for some hearty malay food, why not give Warong Jawa a try? It sure is economically friendly too!
And yes, that was my first shot on a nikon d40.
